Lillian carpet, an Armenian weaver carpet that definitely has a long history in Iranian carpets, especially in Markazi province, and its various designs and roles have many fans in the world. Lilian is one of the villages of Khomein city in Markazi province. The art of carpet weaving has a long history in Khomein city and in each of the villages of this city, carpets are woven in a special way.

The people of the Lillian region are Armenian immigrants who flourished carpet weaving by settling in this region. They produced handmade. British tourists and researchers often searched the Armenian villages of Iran and praised the Armenian Armenian carpet weaver in terms of design and pattern, color and quality of fibers.

Lillian carpet design and motif

Lillian rugs are somewhat similar to Sarouq rugs in terms of design, pattern and color, so that in some cases, it is a bit difficult to distinguish whether these rugs belong to Saroogh or Lillian. Of course, some designs of Lillian rugs have some differences. It is with different regions, especially in the types of bergamot, examples of which are rarely seen in other regions except this region. The middle bergamot of Lillian rugs is in the middle of the carpet designs, and the tops of the bergamots are peacock-shaped, and the bouquets fill in between the bergamot and the fringe, and the text of Lillian rugs is filled with dense foliage.

Common designs of carpets in this area are goat horn design, cotton flower design, pot sprayer, fish design and 2, the most famous of which are goat and fish carpets.

What is the color of Lillian carpet?

Natural and vegetable dyes were traditionally used to  dye Lillian carpets. The text color of most of the carpets of Lillian and the surrounding villages is often doogh red and brick and its fabric is pink. But colors of crimson, lacquer, cream, sometimes with a blue background are also seen in Lillian rugs. In the margins of the carpets, lacquer or crimson text colors were used accordingly. There are differences in the way of dyeing this area with other places. Of course, these differences have increased the quality and differentiated the carpets of this region from other regions.

Lillian carpet, in addition to special designs and patterns and dyeing different from other regions, has another feature that has made it one of the best carpets in terms of quality. The wool used in Lillian rugs is very high quality and its direct effect on the quality of Lillian rugs can be seen.
