Handmade carpet tourism in Farahan Carpet Company
Some time ago, I was thinking of a friend suggesting a tour to introduce those interested in the process of producing organic handmade rugs. I believed that this kind of program would introduce more and more enthusiasts to the original handmade carpet, especially the Arak (Sultan Abad), Saruq and Farahan carpets, which is unfortunately forgotten. But the question was to what extent such programs are welcomed? When I did my first tour, I realized that people were very enthusiastic about this kind of educational tour, but there was no planning in this field. We hope that by making this program more accessible, we will make people aware of handmade carpets, and one day believes that handmade carpets are a very authentic art and full of mysteries before they become a practical and industrial device. In this one-day tour, tourists first visit production workshops that include dyeing, weaving, polishing, washing, restoration, etc. and Mr. Farahani has also provided a comprehensive explanation. After a brief reception, they went to the Farahan Carpet Gallery to get a close look at the result of all the hard work in this field, as well as to get to know some of the designers’ work. In the end, everyone who participated in the tour felt happy and believed that the stages of handmade carpet production were very attractive and their mindset about handmade carpets changed completely. So we have reached our goal
